HellermannTyton’s HDT16 is a new easy-to-use 2-in-1 hand tool that assists installers by enabling a very tight tie when installing heavy duty metal cable ties, including stainless steel.
Richard Rands, Product Manager Fasteners and Fixtures at HellermannTyton UK explains: “This is the first time we have developed a specialist tool for installing large metal cable ties. While other suppliers sell two separate tools for this type of application , but the versatile design of the HDT16 makes it suitable for many types of metal cable ties.”
The HDT16 also helps to minimise the risk of injury during use and subsequently from sharp edges, as the integrated tensioning and cutting mechanism allows for simple flush cutting of metal strips.In addition, the tool handle can be easily adjusted to a range of positions, so it can be configured for the most ergonomic one-handed or two-handed position.
HellermannTyton points out that the two-way nose bridge makes the HDT16 ideal for use with different stainless steel cable ties up to 16mm wide.For example, cable ties in metal ball or fold lock designs, such as the HellermannTyton MBT, MLT or AMT metal cable ties range.
These are often used to protect large power cables in harsh environments such as oil and gas rigs, ships and entire power grids.The development of the HDT16 reflects HellermannTyton’s commitment to providing complete cable management solutions to customers with similar requirements around the world.
